Important Tax Disclaimer
Note: Rec cannot provide tax advice.
This article explains the tax forms and documents instructors may receive from Rec. For personalized tax guidance, please consult a qualified tax professional.
Submitting Tax Information
After making your first sale on the Rec platform, you are required to submit U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax forms through Stripe Connect, Rec’s payment platform.
The tax information you provide is used to determine the correct amount of IRS withholding applied to your payouts.
Tax Forms You Will Receive
After the end of each calendar year, instructors can expect to receive tax forms from Rec that summarize:
Total payouts
Total tax withholdings for the previous year
Rec also files copies of these forms with the IRS.
Instructor Tax Responsibilities
Although Rec applies IRS withholding based on your submitted tax information:
You are responsible for reporting your earnings to the appropriate government authorities.
The 1099 form provided by Rec may help you complete your income tax reporting.
If you have questions about your tax obligations, please seek advice from a tax professional.
