Requesting a Lesson Time
If a student does not see an available Instant Book lesson time that works for them, they can request a different time from an instructor.
Notifications for Instructors
When a student submits a time request:
You will receive a text message notification.
You will also receive an email notification.
Completing the Booking Process
Review the student’s request.
Create a lesson slot that matches the requested time.
Share the booking link with the student.
Important: The lesson is not booked until the student opens the link and confirms the booking.
Responding to a Lesson Request
You can respond to a student’s lesson request in any of the following ways:
Select the link in the text message you received.
Select the button in the email notification.
Open your Instructor Profile to view all pending requests.
View Pending Requests from Your Instructor Profile
To access your instructor profile and see all pending lesson requests:
Locate the Lessons button in the top-right corner of the screen.
Select Lessons to open your instructor profile.
Review the list of pending requests.
Manage Lesson Requests
Your instructor profile displays all pending and completed lesson requests.
For each pending request, you can choose one of the following actions:
Create a lesson slot for the student.
Deny the request.
When the Requested Time Does Not Work
If the student’s proposed time does not work for you, follow these recommended steps:
Contact the student to discuss an alternative date or time.
Wait for confirmation before creating a new lesson slot.
Deny the request only if no available time or location works for both you and the student.
Tip: Communicating with the student before denying a request helps avoid confusion and improves the booking experience.
Instructor Communication Responsibility
As an instructor, you are responsible for maintaining clear and timely communication with students throughout the booking process. This is especially important when discussing or negotiating alternative lesson times.
Once you click Create Slot you will be able to set up a lesson slot just as you would for instant book slots.
When you click Create Lesson Slot the student will automatically be notified you’ve created the slot and be sent the link to book the lesson. You can also send the newly created slot to the student by clicking Copy Booking Link to Keyboard and then pasting the link into a text or email.
Share the Booking Link from Your Schedule
If you need to access the booking link later to share it with a student:
Open your Instructor Profile.
Scroll to My schedule.
Use the available filters to view your scheduled lessons.
Locate the lesson slot you want to share.
Select the link icon on the right side of the lesson row.
The booking link is copied to your clipboard.
Paste the link into a text message or email and send it to the student.
The student can use this link to book and confirm the lesson slot.
Follow Up on Unconfirmed Bookings
If a student does not confirm their booking within a reasonable amount of time, consider sending a friendly reminder. This helps ensure lesson slots are confirmed and available time is used effectively.
Important: Lesson Confirmation Requirements
Note: A lesson is not confirmed until the student completes the booking process.
For a lesson to be fully booked:
The student must receive the shared lesson slot notification (either automatically or through the link you provide).
The student must open the link and complete the confirmation process in the Rec app.
Please ensure the student confirms the lesson before the scheduled lesson time.
